Piano Technique & Physiology
Our lessons
Developing a good piano technique requires knowledge of physiology and an understanding of the body’s ability to move.
It will explore the ways in which this technique can help improve the student’s posture, breathing, and hand-eye coordination.
Additionally, it will provide examples of how this technique can be applied to different styles of music. Finally, it will discuss the importance of proper practice and maintenance for achieving optimal results from this piano technique.
The importance of physiological mechanics behind technical movements when playing the pianoforte is vital to forming efficient and effective playing techniques. Physiological mechanics such as posture, hand and arm positioning, wrist flexibility, and finger dexterity all contribute to the quality of sound produced when playing the instrument.
Proper posture helps to ensure that the body is in a relaxed position that allows for smoother movements and facilitates a more comfortable playing experience. Hand and arm positioning help to ensure that the arms can move freely and reach all notes on the piano keys without strain. Wrist flexibility is important for keeping the wrist relaxed while playing, allowing for more fluid motions
